Performance in focus: The new development of the Blick mobile app
The Blick News & Sport app offers users many ways to consume and participate in the content in their own way. However, such a variety of features also costs a lot of power, which can lead to performance problems, especially with older smartphones. Ringier has therefore decided to develop the mobile app from scratch with a stronger focus on performance. The new development ensures that Blick continues to offer readers the best possible user experience in the future.
To ensure that the new mobile app provides all the desired features with high performance in the future, Ringier obtained further expertise in the choice of technology and architecture. Devedis was therefore commissioned to develop a concept to best set up the new app for all future challenges.
Evaluation of a future-oriented app architecture
To this end, devedis weighed various technologies and frameworks with regard to Ringier's goals, the existing know-how of the internal development team, possible risks and other factors in order to make an optimal choice. In order to verify the feasibility, performance and complexity of implementing certain features, a simple prototype was created as a proof of concept as part of the analysis. This made it possible to make an exact recommendation for action.
The concept and prototype provide Ringier with an optimal overview of the status quo and its challenges. It also offers a list of viable decisions as well as an analysis and comparison of the resulting scenarios. This gives Ringier the ideal basis for making solid and well-thought-out decisions, which will significantly strengthen the media company's position, especially in the long term.
