Launch a new food delivery service in record time thanks to agile prototyping
From the initial idea to the first order in 38 days
The corona crisis required rapid action. In cooperation with SV Group, InnoArchitects and devedis, the innovative food delivery service Emil @Home was created in record speed. It took just 38 days from the initial idea to the first order in the web app.
SV Group, the largest operator of employee restaurants and canteens in Switzerland, had set itself the goal of providing its customers with healthy catering options despite corona. However, it's not that easy, because unlike a laptop, you can't easily take the employee restaurant or canteen home with you. That is why new ideas were needed.
Modern food ordering for the home office
Since the need resulted from the current Corona/COVID-19 situation, quick action was required. With its new business model, SV Group wanted to be on the market as quickly as possible in order to evaluate potential and build up customers.
For this reason, the customer's ideas and ideas were sharpened as a first step through a BoostCamp together with the innovation architects. In addition, an understanding of the end customer, the framework conditions of a catering company and the logistics for food delivery was built up in order to specify the business case.
From prototype to platform: SV Group's PWA solution
After the goal and requirements were understandable and tangible, the technical concept was created to achieve them in the best possible way. It was decided to build the web app as a Progressive Web App (PWA) with Angular and Firebase. Because thanks to these technologies, the first prototype could be delivered and test customers invited within a very short time. The resulting customer feedback is now continuously incorporated into the development of the web app and the customer base is constantly growing.
On the one hand, the web app enables customer employees to conveniently order their food from an office chair to the home office. On the other hand, the application uses an admin interface to keep track of orders and processes. As a result, customers receive fresh food delivered directly to the refrigerator every week and SV Group keeps its processes under control thanks to a digital business model and individual software.
