Development of the animal shelter software TIGON

Development of the new animal shelter software for 24/7 operations, including animal management and care as well as case processing.
The “Stiftung TierRettungsDienst - Life has priority” foundation is committed with heart and dedication to injured, stray and abandoned animals - around the clock. Their offerings include an operations center that coordinates emergency calls from all over Switzerland, and the Pfötli animal shelter, which provides animals with a safe, temporary home.

Starting point

After 20 years of use, the existing animal shelter administration software was end of life. It was technically outdated and could no longer meet the growing demands of daily work in the animal shelter.
Our task was to develop a new, sustainable solution that reduces administrative costs, optimizes processes and improves communication - all with an intuitive user interface and a well-thought-out user experience.

Introduction of new concepts and digital processes

In close cooperation with the project team, we analysed the existing processes and developed new, well-thought-out concepts. We integrated the requirements of animal shelter employees right from the start to make daily work noticeably easier. In this way, work processes could not only be optimized, but also digitized. For example, animals that are new to the shelter are recorded directly in the system - without detours via paper forms. This minimizes errors and subsequent processes are immediately triggered.

Separation of animals, care and case management

The biggest change is the separation of animal, care and case management into separate work areas. This clear structure enables teams to work independently of each other. Previously, the work masks were mixed and data had to be added at various points. This led to inefficiencies and ambiguities.

Digitalization of entry and exit checks

The processes of entry and exit of an animal were completely digitized. Previously, the processes were carried out on paper and then had to be entered manually in the system. On the one hand, this resulted in additional costs and delayed downstream processes.
Today, everything is done digitally, which has minimized dependencies and saved valuable working time.

The new software is equipped with numerous features that make everyday administrative life in animal shelters more efficient. Here are a few examples:

Dashboard

All relevant key figures and current tasks are visible at a glance and make it easier to start the working day.

Notifications

Important notifications, such as when a new animal has arrived, reach the relevant user groups immediately and speed up communication.

Global search

The powerful global search feature allows you to quickly find animals, contacts, cases and other entries, saving time.

Animal, contact and case management

Animals, contacts, and cases can be edited separately. In addition, all data is stored in one place, making it easier for users to do their work or retrieve information.

Task management

The integrated task management ensures that no task is forgotten and that communication within the team works smoothly. In addition, this also provides complete documentation of the animals' health status.

Entry and exit check

From entry to placement of an animal, all necessary steps are digitally done, documented and organized to ensure continuous care.

Contract preparation and service management

It is possible to create animal placement contracts and clean service recording directly in the software.

Invoicing

With integrated invoicing, employees in the secretariat can easily bill for services incurred and generate the invoice including a Swiss QR code.

User and role management

With a flexible role concept, access rights can be precisely controlled so that all employees see exactly what is relevant to them. In addition, employees who work in different teams or at different stations can determine with just a few clicks where and in which function they work today.

Audit Log

For maximum transparency, all relevant actions are documented in the system - a feature that creates trust and helps to understand changes or errors.

Stats

Comprehensive analyses and evaluations make it easier to continuously optimize the operation of the animal shelter and to simplify reporting to various stakeholders.

Management of master data

Selected users can add master data such as animal species, new services or filter categories and deactivate existing ones.

The result

The new solution is more than just management software - it is an efficient tool that frees up employees and supports them in their important work. The modular structure makes the software flexible and can be adapted to future needs. Our approach of consistently focusing on usability and flexibility has paid off: The feedback from the team is mostly positive, and the software already provides valuable services in everyday life.
